Home / HTML presentation export

HTML presentation export you keep (AI optional)

Export your deck as a self-contained Reveal.js HTML bundle — commit it to a repo, serve it from your own domain, or open it from a USB stick with the network off. HTML, PDF, and PPTX export are all on Free, with no credit card and no AI; AI drafting is optional and lives on Pro and Unlimited. Two things this page will not pretend: we do not ship a Markdown importer, and we do not sell a cloud player or viewer analytics as the product.

The job: a deck that is a file, not a share link

Most presentation tools hand you a URL. That is fine right up until it is not, and the moments it stops being fine are predictable:

  • Cloud share links disappear. Accounts lapse, plans get downgraded, workspaces get deleted when someone leaves, and whole products get discontinued — Tome’s presentation product was shut down in 2025 and tome.app now returns a 404. Every deck whose only copy was a link on that domain went with it. A link is a promise somebody else has to keep paying to honour.
  • Some rooms have no network. Basement conference halls, air-gapped sites, client offices with guest Wi-Fi that wants a captive portal login. A deck that needs to phone home to render is a deck that can fail on stage.
  • Some decks need to live in version control. If the talk ships with the repo, the slides should diff, branch, and deploy like everything else in it, not sit in a vendor’s database behind an invite.
  • Some decks have to outlive the subscription. A lecture you will re-run next year, a talk you want on your own site, a customer-facing deck an enablement team hands around. Those are artifacts, not sessions.
  • PDF and PPTX are exports; HTML is the native form. PDF and PPTX are what you send when the other side demands that shape, and both lose the behaviour the browser was providing. The HTML is the one that is still the deck.

If a hosted, always-current share link is genuinely what you want, that is nearer Gamma; if you want layout decided for you inside their player, nearer Beautiful.ai. Those are real products and for plenty of people the right ones. This page is for the other case.

How the HTML export works here

AI Slide Generator is a Reveal.js editor and exporter. The credit where it belongs: Reveal.js is an independent open-source project created by Hakim El Hattab. We did not invent Reveal.js, we are not affiliated with or endorsed by the upstream project, and Reveal.js itself is free — you do not need us to use it. We built the authoring and export layer on top.

  • The export is a self-contained HTML bundle. Slides are sections in a Reveal.js deck and the output is ordinary HTML and CSS. Put it in a repo, publish it from CI or any static host, serve it off an internal box on your own domain, or open the file directly in a browser. It does not call back to us to render.
  • Offline means offline. Exported HTML runs from a local file with the network off — USB stick, laptop, no Wi-Fi, no captive portal. There is no runtime licence check and no account lookup, which is also why it keeps working after you downgrade, cancel, or close the account.
  • All three exports are on Free. HTML, PDF, and PPTX, with no credit card, no watermark, and no export cap. The keepable file is not the upsell.
  • Export is one-directional — there is no Markdown importer. HTML comes out; nothing in Markdown goes in. No drop-in .md upload, no front-matter convention, no folder of source files that becomes a deck. You author in the browser and export the result. We are stating that here rather than in small print because it is the single feature most likely to be assumed from a page with this title.
  • Re-export is how you update, and there is no re-import. Edit in the app and export again to get a new bundle. If you hand-edit the exported HTML or CSS — which you are free to do, it is plain markup — those edits live in your copy, and the next export will not know about them. That is a real constraint of an export-only pipeline, not a bug we plan to explain away.
  • AI is optional and paid. Free is unlimited manual decks with no AI and no credit card. AI generation — the Alie assistant, AI images, prompt-to-deck — is on Pro and Unlimited only. A generated first draft can save an afternoon; it is never required to produce an export.
  • API access is on Unlimited only. It is a server-side API for generating decks through our service, for an internal tool or a scheduled report. It is not a CLI, an npm package, or a self-hosted renderer, and it is not on Free or Pro. If you want to generate decks entirely on your own machines with no account involved, Reveal.js is open source and that is the better answer.
  • We do not sell viewer analytics. A bundle you host cannot report back to us, so there is no open-rate dashboard, no per-viewer dwell time, and no export audit trail here. Your own host logs are the honest substitute.

Who this is not for

  • You want a Markdown importer — paste .md and get slides, or point a build at a folder of source files. We do not ship one. The open-source Reveal.js toolchain and other Markdown-first tools do, and that is the honest recommendation rather than a queue to join.
  • You need viewer analytics as the product — who opened the deck, which slide they stopped on, lead capture on the share link. We do not sell that, and a self-hosted file structurally cannot provide it.
  • You need Team seats, SSO, a shared workspace, or live co-editing. We do not sell those SKUs; the plans here are individual.
  • You want free AI. Free has no AI at all, so do not sign up for $0 expecting prompt-to-deck.
  • You will only ever work in Google Slides or PowerPoint and have no use for an HTML file. Use those apps — the PPTX export here is a hand-off, not a round-trip, and if nobody ever keeps the HTML the main reason to be here is gone.
  • You want us to host and brand the share link on a custom domain with access control. We export; you host. Those are different jobs.

Compared with hosted slide SaaS

Most AI presentation tools keep the deck in their cloud, meter generations as credits, and build the business around the audience experience on the share link. That is a coherent product and often the better one — it is just the opposite trade from this page. We export files you own and host; we do not sell a hosted player or viewer analytics as the product, and we are not going to frame their having those as a gap.

FAQ

Can I export HTML on the Free plan?

Yes. HTML export is on Free, and so are PDF and PPTX. There is no export paywall, no watermark on the exported bundle, no slide cap on the export, and no credit card to reach it. This is deliberate rather than an oversight: a deck you cannot take with you is not a deck you own, so holding the export hostage would break the one promise this page is about. The paid plans add AI generation, not the ability to get your own file out.

Does the Free plan include AI?

No. Free has no AI. It is unlimited manual decks and slides, every template, and HTML, PDF, and PPTX export. AI generation — the Alie assistant, AI content suggestions, AI images, prompt-to-deck — is on Pro and Unlimited only. The two halves of this product are priced in opposite directions and we would rather say so plainly: the export half, which is the reason to be on this page, is free; the AI half is paid. Signing up for $0 expecting prompt-to-deck will disappoint you.

Do you have a Markdown importer? Can I point a build at a folder of .md files?

No. We do not ship a Markdown importer. There is no drop-in .md upload that becomes a deck, no front-matter convention, no watch mode, and no build step you can aim at a directory of source files. Export is one-directional here: you author in the browser and export HTML out. We know this is the obvious feature to claim on a page about HTML decks, and we know some visitors arrive searching for exactly it, which is why the answer is a flat no rather than a roadmap tease. If a Markdown-in pipeline is your real requirement, the open-source Reveal.js toolchain and other Markdown-first deck tools already do it well, and we would rather send you there than sell you something we do not have.

Can I self-host the export and present with no network?

Yes to both, and this is the point of the product rather than a concession. The export is a self-contained Reveal.js HTML bundle: commit it to a repo, publish it from CI, drop it on any static host or an internal server behind your own firewall, put it on your own domain, or open it straight from a local file in a room with no Wi-Fi. It does not phone home to render, there is no licence check at runtime, and it does not stop working if you downgrade, cancel, or close the account. The editor is a hosted web app, so you build and export online. The artifact is what you keep.

Do you sell viewer analytics — who opened the deck, and for how long?

No, and we cannot. A file you host yourself cannot report back to us by design; once the bundle is on your server or your laptop, we are not in the request path and there is nothing for us to collect or resell you. If you need open rates and per-viewer dwell time, that is a hosted player product, which is a genuinely different thing rather than a gap in ours — several vendors build their whole pricing around it, and we are not going to frame their having it as a weakness. The nearest honest answer here is that your own host logs will tell you what your own host sees.

What about PDF and PPTX — are they the same thing as the HTML export?

No. HTML is the native form of a Reveal.js deck; PDF and PPTX are conversions out of it, and they are lossy on purpose. Fragments, transitions, embedded media, and anything else that only exists because a browser is rendering it do not survive the trip. Use PDF when someone needs a fixed, readable file, and PPTX when an organiser or a submission portal demands that shape — but treat the PPTX as a hand-off for someone else to open, not a live-editable master that round-trips back here. If you want the deck you can still open, restyle, and diff in five years, keep the HTML.

Do you sell a Team plan, SSO, or a shared workspace around exports?

No. We do not sell Team seats, Enterprise, or SSO, and there is no shared workspace, live co-editing, admin console, or export audit log. Free and the two paid plans are individual accounts. A team that wants everyone exporting from one governed place is describing a product we do not sell; a team that just wants the exported HTML in one place can put it in a repo, which is most of the benefit and none of our invoice.

Do you publish a rating, a user count, or an export count?

No. There is no star rating, no rating markup in this page’s structured data, no logo wall of companies said to use us, no count of decks exported or users served, and no borrowed GitHub star count from the upstream Reveal.js project dressed up as ours. The claims here are about what the software does and what it costs, and both are checkable by making a free account or reading the pricing page.
