Reveal.js presentation maker (AI optional)

For people who want a Reveal.js deck without starting from a blank index.html. Author in a web editor, export a self-contained HTML bundle you can host and present offline, plus PDF and PPTX. Free is unlimited manual decks with no credit card and no AI; AI drafting is optional and lives on Pro and Unlimited. Two things this page will not pretend: we did not invent Reveal.js, and we do not ship a Markdown importer.

The job: a Reveal.js deck without the blank index.html

Reveal.js is an open HTML presentation framework — a browser, a theme, keyboard navigation, fragments, speaker notes. Conference talks, university lectures and internal demos already run on it, because the artifact is a website rather than a file trapped in somebody’s player. What stops most people from using it is not the framework. It is the first hour:

  • The on-ramp is a blank file and a docs tab. Clone or npm-install something, read about section nesting, pick a theme, discover the print-to-PDF query string. All learnable, none of it the talk you sat down to write.
  • Hand-coding every section gets old. The tenth <section> of a twenty-slide deck is data entry, and moving slide 14 above slide 9 is a cut-and-paste job instead of a drag.
  • You still want the output to be HTML. That is the whole reason to pick Reveal.js: a deck you can commit, serve from any static host, open from a local file in a room with no network, and still open in two years.
  • AI should be a choice, not the product. Sometimes a rough first outline saves an afternoon. Sometimes you know exactly what the twelve slides are and want a tool that gets out of the way.

This page is the HTML toolchain, not a prettier cloud deck. If a hosted, scrollable web deck is what you actually want, that is nearer Gamma; if you want layout decided for you, nearer Beautiful.ai.

How Reveal.js works here

AI Slide Generator is a Reveal.js editor and exporter. To be exact about the credit: Reveal.js is an independent open-source project created by Hakim El Hattab, we did not invent Reveal.js, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by the upstream project. We built the authoring layer; the engine underneath is theirs.

  • The native output is HTML. Slides are sections in a Reveal.js deck, and the export is a self-contained bundle. Commit it to a repo, publish it from CI or any static host, serve it off an internal box, or open it from a USB stick with no network. It does not call back to us to render, and it does not stop working if you close your account.
  • HTML export is on Free. So is PDF and PPTX. Self-hostable Reveal.js is not the upsell here — the export is the part we refuse to hold hostage, because a deck you cannot take with you is not a deck you own.
  • Authoring is outline-shaped — as a metaphor, not a file format. Headings and bullets map onto slides instead of disappearing into a binary, which is why writing here feels closer to writing than to drawing. We do not ship a Markdown importer: there is no drop-in .md upload, no front-matter convention, and no folder of source files that becomes a deck. You author in the browser and export the result.
  • Templates plus a freeform canvas. Starting themes for people who want one, and a canvas that lets you put things where you want them. We do not run automatic on-brand re-layout of your slides, and we do not claim a locked brand kit — restyling happens in the editor, or in CSS after export.
  • AI is optional and paid. Free is unlimited manual decks with no AI and no credit card. AI generation — the Alie assistant, AI images, prompt-to-deck — is on Pro and Unlimited only. Useful for a first draft you are going to rewrite; never required to finish a deck.
  • PDF and PPTX are exports, not the source of truth. Use them when an organiser demands a file in that shape. Web-only behaviour — fragments, transitions, embedded media — does not survive the conversion, and the PPTX is something for someone else to open rather than a live-editable master.
  • API access is on Unlimited only. It is a server-side API for generating decks through our service, for an internal tool or a scheduled report. It is not a CLI, an npm package, or a self-hosted renderer. If you want to script deck generation entirely on your own machines with no account involved, Reveal.js itself is open source and that is the better answer.

Who this is not for

  • You want a Markdown importer — point a build at a folder of .md files, or paste Markdown and get slides. We do not ship one. The open-source Reveal.js toolchain and other Markdown-first tools do, and that is the honest recommendation.
  • You need real-time multiplayer editing and in-deck comments as a team workspace. We have no live co-editing; that is Pitch territory.
  • You want automatic layout from a locked brand kit to do the design thinking for you. We do not claim that.
  • You will only ever present inside Google Slides or PowerPoint. Use those apps — add-ons that live inside them exist, and PPTX export from here is a hand-off, not a round-trip.
  • You need Team seats, SSO, custom domains, or viewer analytics from us. We do not sell those SKUs.
  • You want free AI. Free has no AI at all, so do not sign up for $0 expecting prompt-to-deck.

Compared with hosted slide SaaS

Most AI presentation tools keep the deck in their cloud, meter generations as credits, and sell the audience experience around the share link. That is a real product and for a lot of people the right one. It is a bad fit when the talk has to outlive a subscription, a price change, or a shutdown — Tome’s presentation product was discontinued in 2025 and tome.app now returns a 404, which is the clearest argument for an artifact you hold. We export files you own and host; we do not sell viewer analytics or a hosted player as the product, and we are not going to frame their having those as a gap.

FAQ

Is this official Reveal.js? Are you affiliated with the project?

No. Reveal.js is an independent open-source project created by Hakim El Hattab, and we did not invent Reveal.js or write any of it. We are a commercial editor and exporter that sits on top of the engine: our product is the authoring and export experience, and the artifact it produces is a Reveal.js deck. Nobody at the upstream project endorses us, reviewed us, or gets a say in what this page says. If a page ever reads as though a vendor authored the open-source framework it wraps, that is a reason to be suspicious of the vendor — including us.

Do I need to know HTML or CSS to use this?

No. The whole reason this page exists is that the usual on-ramp to Reveal.js is a blank index.html and a docs tab. Here you write slides in a web editor with templates and a freeform canvas, and the HTML is generated for you. Knowing CSS becomes useful afterwards, if you want to restyle the exported bundle by hand — the export is ordinary HTML and CSS, so that door is open rather than mandatory.

Can I present offline, self-host the deck, or keep it after I cancel?

Yes to all three, and this is the point of the product rather than a concession. The Reveal.js export is a self-contained HTML bundle: open it from a local file, put it on any static host or an internal server, or carry it on a USB stick into a room with no network. It does not call back to us to render and there is no licence check at runtime, so it keeps working if you downgrade, cancel, or close the account. The editor itself is a hosted web app — you build and export online. The artifact is what you keep.

Do you have a Markdown importer? Can I upload a folder of .md files?

No. We do not ship a Markdown importer — there is no drop-in .md upload that becomes a deck, no front-matter convention, no watch mode, no build step pointed at a directory of source files. We describe authoring here as outline-shaped because slides map onto headings and bullets rather than onto a binary blob, but that is a metaphor for how writing feels, not a file format you hand us. If a one-command Markdown pipeline is your actual requirement, the open-source Reveal.js toolchain and other Markdown-first deck tools already do it well, and we would rather point you there than sell you a feature we do not have.

Does the Free plan include AI?

No. Free has no AI. It is unlimited manual decks and slides, every template, and HTML, PDF, and PPTX export, with no credit card. AI generation — the Alie assistant, AI images, prompt-to-deck — is on Pro and Unlimited only. "Reveal.js AI" is a search people type, and the honest answer is that the Reveal.js part is free and the AI part is paid, which we would rather state plainly than blur to win the click.

Do you sell a Team plan, SSO, or viewer analytics?

No. We do not sell Team seats, Enterprise, or SSO, and there is no shared workspace, live co-editing, or admin console — Free and the two paid plans are individual. We also do not sell viewer analytics: a deck you host yourself cannot report back to us by design, so who opened it and for how long is something your own host logs, not something we resell you. Vendors who do sell that are selling a hosted player, which is a different product, not a gap in theirs.

Do you publish a rating or a user count for this?

No. There is no star rating, no rating markup in this page’s structured data, no "trusted by" logo wall, no slide or user counter, and no GitHub star count borrowed from the upstream project to imply it is ours. The claims on this page are about what the software does and what it costs, both of which you can check by making a free account or reading the pricing page.
