Reveal.js decks for developers (HTML you can put in git)

Build the deck, export a Reveal.js HTML bundle, and commit it next to the code it describes. HTML, PDF, and PPTX export are on Free with no credit card, and Free is unlimited manual decks with no AI. AI drafting is optional and lives on Pro and Unlimited; Unlimited also includes API access. No GitHub star counts, no FAANG logos, no invented open-source awards on this page — and no Markdown importer, because we do not ship one.

The job: slides that belong next to the code

Engineers make decks for specific, unglamorous reasons — an architecture review, an RFC walkthrough, an internal brown bag, a talk at a meetup — and the constraints are not the ones a design tool optimises for:

  • The deck should live in the repo. Next to the design doc it summarises, versioned with the change it explains, reviewable as a diff, and still openable in two years when someone asks why the service looks like that.
  • You already have somewhere to put static files. A pages branch, an object store, an internal nginx box, a CI artifact. Publishing an HTML bundle there is a solved problem; getting a SaaS deck into the same place is not.
  • Credit-gated cloud players get in the way. A generation quota between you and a slide you wanted to fix, an export locked behind an upgrade, a player that needs the network in a room that does not have it.
  • Share links die. A URL works while somebody keeps paying and the vendor keeps existing, and neither is your decision — see what happened to Tome. A file in git has a different failure mode: essentially none.

How it works here

AI Slide Generator is a presentation builder on Reveal.js. We did not invent Reveal.js — it is an independent open-source project, and we are an editor and exporter on top of it.

  • Free ($0): unlimited manual decks and slides, all templates, export HTML, PDF, and PPTX. No AI. No credit card.
  • The HTML is yours to host. The export is a self-contained Reveal.js bundle: commit it, publish it from CI or any static host, serve it internally, or open it from a USB stick with no network. It does not call back to us to render, and it does not stop working if you close your account.
  • PDF and PPTX for the people who ask for them. Same deck, three artifacts. The PPTX is an export for someone else to open, not a live-editable master — web-only effects do not survive the conversion.
  • Authoring is a web editor, not a file format. Be clear-eyed about this: you write slides in the browser and export the result. There is no Markdown importer, no local build step, no watch mode. The output is a file you own; the input is not a directory of source you keep.
  • AI on paid only: the Alie assistant, AI images, and prompt-to-deck are Pro and Unlimited features. Handy for a first outline you are going to rewrite anyway; not required to use the product.
  • API access on Unlimited: a server-side API for generating decks programmatically, for internal tooling or scheduled reports. It runs through our service — it is not a CLI, an npm package, or a self-hosted renderer.

Who this is not for

  • You want a one-command Markdown pipeline — point a build at a folder of .md files and get a deck. We do not ship a Markdown importer, and the open-source Reveal.js toolchain is the better fit for that.
  • You run real-time multiplayer design reviews with in-deck comments across a team. We have no live co-editing; that is Pitch territory.
  • You want Team seats or SSO from us. We do not sell Team, Enterprise, or SSO.
  • You want free AI to turn a README into a finished deck. Free has no AI.
  • Your deck is really a link you send people, scrolled more than presented — a hosted, card-based web deck is the better shape, see Gamma.
  • You want automatic on-brand layout to do the design thinking for you — closer to Beautiful.ai.

Compared with hosted slide SaaS

The honest split: they sell a hosted deck and the audience experience around it; we sell files. We do not sell viewer analytics or a hosted player as the product, and we are not going to frame that as a gap in their offering rather than a different one.

FAQ

Does the Free plan include AI?

No. Free is unlimited manual decks, every template, and HTML, PDF, and PPTX export, with no credit card. AI generation — the Alie assistant, AI images, prompt-to-deck — is on Pro and Unlimited only. Free is the manual editor, and we are not going to re-label it as free AI generation to win the click.

Can I put the exported HTML in git and host it myself?

Yes. The Reveal.js export is a self-contained HTML bundle: commit it to a repo, publish it from any static host or CI job, serve it from an internal box, or open it straight off a USB stick. It does not phone home to us to render, there is no licence check at runtime, and nothing about it stops working if you close your account. The editor is a hosted web app, so you build and export online — the artifact is what you keep.

Do you have a Markdown importer? Can I turn a README into slides?

No, and we are not going to imply otherwise. There is no Markdown-to-deck importer here today, no front-matter convention, no folder of .md files that becomes a deck on push. You author in the web editor and export. If a one-command Markdown pipeline is the requirement, the open-source Reveal.js toolchain and other markdown-first deck tools already do it, and we would rather say so than sell you a feature we do not have.

Is this official Reveal.js? Are you affiliated with the project?

No. Reveal.js is an independent open-source project and we did not write it. We are a commercial editor and exporter built on top of it: our product is the authoring and export experience, and the output is a Reveal.js deck. Any page that implies a vendor invented the open-source framework it wraps is one to be suspicious of, including this one if it ever reads that way.

Is there an API, and what does it actually do?

API access is part of the Unlimited plan ($39/month list price). It is a server-side API for generating decks through our service — the sort of thing you wire into an internal tool or a scheduled report. It is not a local CLI, an npm package, or a self-hosted renderer, and it is not on Free or Pro. If you want to script deck generation on your own machines with no account involved, Reveal.js itself is open source and that is the honest answer.

Do you sell a Team plan, SSO, or seat management?

No. We do not sell Team seats, Enterprise, or SSO, and there is no shared workspace, live co-editing, or admin console. Free and the two paid plans are individual. We also do not sell viewer analytics — who opened your deck and for how long — because a file you host yourself cannot report back to us by design.
